You want to make a mixture. You have ingredients composed of the same components. The proportions (percentage, content) of the components is different in each ingredient. The composition of the mixture will depend on how much of each ingredient you will add. How can you find this -"how much of each ingredient"? well, the Mix Finder can find out for you. It uses an algorithm to solve an inhomogen linear system of equations.

Main Features :

  • It finds close approximated solutions.
  • Easy to use Windows view.
  • Makes files to store your substances and mixture details, to load into the Mix Finder later.

    The Concepts :
  • Mixture: The mixture is produced by mixing ingredients.
  • Substances: Both the ingredients and the mixture itself are substances.
  • Component: The substances consist of components.
  • Content: The contents are the percentages of the components in each substance.
  • Percentage:
    1. The proportions of the components in a substance.
    2. The proportions of the ingredients in the mixture.
  • All at once: The ingredients, each constisting of the same components, but in different proportions, are mixed together to produce a mixture with the desired proportions of these components.
  • The Iteration: To find the result, i.e.: the percentages of the ingredients to get the desired mixture, it is necessary to use an iteration algorithm.

The iteration of the Mix Finder is like others, e.g. the Gauss-Seidel Method to solve a linear system of equations, but more adapted to the requirements of this spezial application. Especially, if there is not an exact result possible, the Mix Finder gives a result that is best approximated to produce the desired mixture. This iteration works slowly, but it always finds you a result!. The slow speed does not matter at all, with todays computers it is actually quite fast.
