Paint.NET is a photo and image editing tool designed for computers running Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000+. It serves the digital imaging community as a free alternative to the standard paint application included with Windows. It brings powerful features to the desktop, a myriad of special effects, plug-in extensibility, and layer manipulation. It enhances the image editing experience for tablet owners with Windows XP Tablet Ink support. Digital photographers and artists can enhance their images with features and effects such as levels adjustment, cross-layer cloning, anti-aliased tools, motion blur, and red eye removal. Minimum System Requirements: 600MHz processor recommended, 128MB RAM, 1024x768 screen resolution recommended, Windows XP (SP1 or SP2), Windows 2000 (SP3 or later), or Windows Server 2003 (all releases) You will need .NET Framework 1.1 Special System Notes: - Tablet PC: Drawing with the stylus using the paintbrush tool is functional with complete pressure and asynchronous input support (it will always keep up, no matter your processor's speed). The shape and selection tools support the asynchronous input, but not pressure.
- Windows 2000: Printing and scanning are not available because WIA 2.0 (Windows Image Acquisition) is only included in Windows XP SP1 or later, and Windows Server 2003. Please see the FAQ for more information.
